American Watercolor Society (AWS) Signature status

What an amazing weekend.  I had the pleasure of flying up to New York City to receive signature status in the American Watercolor Society (AWS).  The AWS is an international juried show featuring the best contemporary painters in the world.   This was my third acceptance in the show and with this I received signature status.

I can now use the AWS initials after my signature.  I am proud to be one in the 500 people in the world who are signature members of AWS. The American Watercolor Society is the longest running watercolor organization in the world.   The show is held yearly at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.  2018 was the 151st annual exhibition of the society.

The awards dinner and reception always passes too quickly.  I met some amazing artists (Fei Xiqiang, Xi Guo, Marnie Becker, Tim Oliver), engaged in conversation with great artists/friends (Kim Minichiello, Anne McCartney, Laurin McCracken) and had the honor of spending time with some of the best painters in the world (Andy Evanson, James Maria, Antonio Masi, and 100+ more).  What a beautiful show!

Thank you American Watercolor Society!  I hope to return next year and for many years to come.

If you are interested in learning my painting techniques I have many (some would say a plethora) of workshops and classes scheduled for 2018 in Raleigh, Charlotte, Boone, Wilson, and New Bern (NC).   I will be in Allendale, NJ in May 8-10th at the Community Arts Association teaching watercolor batik and watercolor pouring and atomizing.  Click here to register.

My calendar for 2019 is filling fast too.  Looks like I will be heading all over North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina .  Stay tuned!
